A Most Desolate House
There was a house in Judah white
with leprous decay.
So the Father, in His mercy sent His Word to heal
their way
But the stewards of that temple, knowing
not their visitation day
"for the sake of their traditions" turned the "Bread
of Life" away.
Because of all "they-thought-they-knew"
the "Hope of Israel" they ignorantly
slew.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem...will you not weep with
me?
Will you harden yet your heart and be deaf unto my plea?
Your many songs of worship
are sung to me in vain and
your solemn assemblies
are a stench which I disdain.
You "say that you see" but do not turn,
-from Israel's lesson, you have yet to learn:
forsaking the "Fountain of Living Water" -they chose instead,
the day of slaughter.
